2014 Recipient of the Emerging Leader Award

Below is an excerpt from the letter Ryan Lorenz received recently from Paul Rockar, Jr., PT, DPT, MS, President of the American Physical Therapy Association.

"On behalf of the Board of Directors of the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA), it is my honor to inform you that you have been selected by the North Dakota Chapter as a 2014 recipient of the Emerging Leader Award. A certificate of recognition is enclosed. In addition, you will be one of 18 members who, like you, were nominated by their component leadership to merit this honor and to be recognized in the October issue of PT in Motion Magazine.

The Emerging Leader Award was established to annual honor individuals who have demonstrated extraordinary service to the profession and APTA early in their careers. Here is an excerpt of what your component leadership had to say about your abilities and accomplishments.

Ryan has demonstrated leadership qualities throughout his college and professional career. He was awarded Most Outstanding Graduating Senior status, when attaining his B.S. degree with cum laude status. This is especially impressive as he was also active in the Army National Guard. Ryan became active in chapter leadership by joining the Finance Committee. He attends all Board meetings and participates in the strategic planning session each year. He also supports the profession by bringing new professionals to chapter meetings. Ryan started his career in private practice in a rural area and quickly became an asset to the community through his expertise in concussion management for high school sports and treatment of all musculoskeletal disorders and injuries. Ryan exhibits the characteristics of a true new professional with his enthusiasm and dedication to his work and clients. NDPTA looks forward to his involvement in the association.

We are extremely appreciative of the effective leadership qualities that you consistently demonstrate, and that have made you an obvious choice for this award. You have been recognized by your component as an individual who has made exceptional contributions to the Association, your chapter and/or section, and to the physical therapy profession.

Please accept our warmest congratulations, knowing that you have displayed all that it takes to be a great leader. Thank you for serving as a role model for others and we are enthusiastic about your future involvement in APTA."
